The rest of the apps for reading books were generally created by smaller third-party startups. This makes the books published in either of these file formats quite accessible, expedient, and user friendly. Apple with the iBooks ePub reader for Mac, iPad, and iPhone was not too far behind. These formats are largely compatible with both Android and iOS systems and are thereby supported on a wide array of devices like tablets, desktops, mobile phones, computers, and laptops. However, when it comes to reading eBooks on different devices, there are two major file formats that are generally used – PDF and ePUB. So much so that the digital publishing industry has breached the barrier of 84.13 million users in 2020 ! ![]() ![]() Instead, they have made a gradual shift towards reading smart, slick, and exhaustive electronic books. While that may sound like a problem from an old-school Mac fan, the reality is that the best apps on the Mac should be flexible and powerful while easy to use. Readers across the world are simply not interested in the archetypical, paper-based, and voluminous textual publications anymore.
